Intuitive Raw-Edge Appliqué and Embroidery Collage at Arrowmont

July 26, 2026 - July 31, 2026

Explore a more intuitive approach to creativity during Intuitive Raw-Edge Appliqué and Embroidery Collage at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Open to all skill levels, this hands-on workshop encourages participants to create without a set pattern, allowing intuition and experimentation to guide the artistic process.

Students will create layered and stitched art quilts using cotton, fusible adhesive, found embroidery, and other textile materials. The workshop begins with a technique sampler covering essential skills such as hand sewing, fused raw-edge appliqué, and hand embroidery stitches before participants begin developing their own original pieces.

While the course focuses primarily on hand stitching, sewing machines will also be available. Students will explore the full art quilt process, including finishing techniques such as bindings and hanging sleeves.

Daily slide talks, group discussions, and short writing exercises will encourage creative exploration and help participants develop a more confident, open approach to art making. Students will leave with completed art quilts, new textile techniques, and fresh inspiration for future creative projects.
