Explore the intersection of woodworking, design, and functionality during Sculptural Lighting at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Designed for intermediate students, this hands-on workshop uses the creation of a unique light fixture to introduce a variety of woodworking and construction techniques.
Participants will develop essential woodshop skills while exploring specialized processes such as bent lamination and coopering, a traditional technique commonly associated with barrel making. Students will also learn basic electrical wiring techniques needed to incorporate a working light source into their designs.
Throughout the workshop, participants will experiment with form and structure to create lighting that is both functional and sculptural. By the end of the course, each student will leave with a completed light fixture showcasing their technical skills and creative vision.
