Explore the fascinating world of bookmaking during this creative Adult Craft Night workshop at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Is a Sandwich a Book or Is a Book a Sandwich? invites participants to think differently about what defines a book while learning practical bookbinding techniques in a fun, hands-on setting.
The workshop begins with a brief look at the history and evolution of books, exploring both traditional and unconventional formats. From there, participants will dive into creating their own handmade sketchbooks while learning several simple binding techniques that can easily be recreated at home.
Throughout the evening, guests will craft four small sketchbooks while practicing a variety of binding styles, including Japanese Stab Binding, Coptic Binding, the Pamphlet Stitch, and a Zine Template. This workshop is perfect for creatives, makers, and anyone interested in developing a deeper appreciation for the book as a physical and artistic object.
