National Park officials announced that Ramsey Prong Road and Greenbrier Road will remain temporarily closed to all visitors through May 15th, 2021. Repairs were expected to be complete in late March. However, the delay is due to the availability of steel beams for the Ramsey Prong Bridge.
“With the wildflower season here, we understand many people will be disappointed in this delayed opening,” said Superintendent Cassius Cash. “For safety and operations, we cannot allow visitors to walk through the construction zone. They are working hard to have the site reopened for people to still enjoy the area later this Spring.”
Old Settlers, Brushy Mountain and Grapeyard Ridge Trails will continue to be open. However, hikers cannot access these trails from the Greenbrier area during the closure. The national park urges all visitors to plan routes accordingly during this closure.
