It’s summertime in the smokies and I can’t wait to share my favorite places to see and things to do with you! Need something fun and exciting for the kids, the best places to stay, where to eat, and so much more!
So you may be wondering, it’s summer not winter- what’s there to do at Ober Gatlinburg? Let me fill you in on all the exciting activities your family will love at Ober.
1. Ride the Aerial Tramway
The Tramway departs from downtown Gatlinburg and takes you up the mountain to the amusement area. The ride up is about 2.1 miles and shows you the most beautiful views of Gatlinburg. Fun Fact: it is one of America’s largest aerial tramways!
2. Ride the Ski Mountain Coaster
Get ready to experience the thrill of coasting over 3750 feet on this 5 1/2 minute coaster. As one of Ober Gatlinburg’s year round excursion. The Ski Mountain Coaster departs near the Snow Tubing Park. The ride begins with a 1000 ft tree-covered and relaxing ride to the top. Once at the top, riders are now in control of their own speed for the next 2750 ft of turns, dips, zig-zags, corkscrews and G-force adventures. Although the mountain coaster can be exhilarating, it is the ultimate family experience any age can enjoy. Riders may choose to leisurely cruise the coaster track or reach speeds up to 25 MPH, while hugging turns and dips down the mountain.
3. Wildlife Encounter
Coming to mountains in hopes of seeing some furry friends? Look no further! Ober Gatlinburg is excited to share their family of black bears including Minnie and BJ, and their now grown 5 yr olds, Holly and Chief. Not only do they have bears, but otters too! Come visit the underwater viewing area to see River Otters, Bobcats, and Birds of Prey.
The Nocturnal House includes various species of native Smokies wildlife such as raccoons, skunks, flying squirrels, turtles and snakes.
