Handmade Paper, Envelopes, and Books, Oh My!

February 17 – March 5, 2026
Open to All Skill Levels | Paper & Books

Overview

Step into the beautiful world of handmade paper and book arts in this creative, beginner-friendly workshop. Perfect for anyone curious about paper crafts, this class will guide you through the fundamentals of papermaking, envelope construction, and bookbinding all while creating one-of-a-kind pieces you’ll be proud to take home.

You’ll begin by learning traditional papermaking techniques, from forming smooth sheets using cotton and abaca pulp to incorporating dried flowers and other decorative inclusions. Once your paper has dried, you’ll turn your handmade sheets into custom envelopes and cards.

The workshop then moves into bookbinding, where you’ll create two introductory book structures using your own paper: a Japanese stab-bound book with a paper cover and a Coptic stitch hardcover journal. Along the way, you’ll gain a solid foundation in paper and book arts while exploring your own creative style.

Magnifiers and tools will be provided as needed. This workshop is open to ages 16+.
