11:00 pm - 1:00 am

Celebrate Independence Day in one of the nation’s most beloved Fourth of July traditions at the annual Gatlinburg Fourth of July Midnight Parade and Fireworks Celebration.

For more than 45 years, Gatlinburg has proudly hosted the first Independence Day parade in the United States, kicking off at 12:01 a.m. on July 4. Recognized by National Geographic Traveler as one of the nation’s top parades and named one of the best Fourth of July celebrations in smaller cities, this patriotic event draws thousands of visitors to downtown Gatlinburg each year.

The parade route stretches more than a mile through the heart of the city, beginning at Baskins Creek Bypass on East Parkway, turning onto the Parkway at Traffic Light #3, and continuing through downtown to Traffic Light #10 near Ski Mountain Road. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot along the route.

The celebration continues throughout the day, culminating with a spectacular fireworks display at 10:00 p.m. in downtown Gatlinburg. The 20-minute show lights up the Smoky Mountain sky, with some of the best viewing areas located near Traffic Lights #3 and #5.

Whether you’re a longtime visitor or experiencing it for the first time, Gatlinburg’s Fourth of July celebration offers an unforgettable day of patriotism, community spirit, and family-friendly fun in the heart of the Smokies.
