Help keep your little ones safe on the road during the free Child Car Seat Safety Check Event hosted by the Gatlinburg Police Department (GPD) on Thursday, August 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Rocky Top Sports World.
This event is open to the public and gives parents, grandparents, and caregivers the opportunity to have their child safety seats inspected by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians from the Gatlinburg Police and Fire Departments.
During the safety check, certified technicians will ensure car seats are installed correctly, confirm they are the appropriate fit for each child’s age, height, and weight, and provide hands-on guidance to help families feel confident about safely transporting their children.
Many child safety seats are not used or installed correctly, which can reduce their effectiveness during a crash. This free event is designed to provide families with the education and resources needed to make sure every child is riding as safely as possible.
No appointment is required. Families are encouraged to bring their child, vehicle, and the child safety seat they regularly use. Technicians will inspect the seat, make any necessary adjustments, and answer questions about proper installation and use.
