Discover the magic of indigo, a plant that has produced stunning blue dyes around the world for centuries. In this hands-on workshop, youth ages 16+ and adults will learn about indigo’s rich history, its traditional and contemporary uses, and techniques for creating beautiful patterns on natural fabrics.
Participants will explore folding, clamping, wrapping, and other traditional Japanese techniques, then dip bandannas and tea towels in indigo to watch vibrant blues develop before their eyes. Each student will leave with one-of-a-kind, hand-dyed textiles to take home.
This class is supported by the Fleur Bresler Scholarship Endowment, allowing for reduced costs for youth participants.
Youth Registration & Safety Information
Parents or guardians must complete registration using the adult’s contact information as the primary contact. An additional approved adult may be listed for drop-off and pick-up. Children must be signed in and out by an approved adult.
Youth ages 16–18 driving themselves should be listed as the alternate drop-off/pick-up contact. Participants under 16 may not check themselves out.
