As summer winds down and families prepare to head back to school, WonderWorks Pigeon Forge is offering a fun and educational way to ease back into learning with special Sensory Days designed to make the experience more comfortable and accessible for guests with special needs.

WonderWorks Pigeon Forge will host two upcoming Sensory Days on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2–6 p.m., and Monday, September 21, 2026, from 4–8 p.m. During these special events, guests can explore the attraction in a calmer, sensory-friendly environment.

What to Expect During Sensory Days

WonderWorks is normally filled with sights, sounds and interactive experiences, but Sensory Days offer an altered environment with reduced stimulation.

During the special hours:

  • Music throughout the facility will be lowered.
  • Loud exhibits will not be operational.
  • The Inversion Tunnel will be stopped.
  • Guests can explore the exhibits in a calmer atmosphere.
  • Discounted admission will be available for $15 per person, plus tax, at the door.

The special experience is designed to give guests and their families an opportunity to explore, learn and have fun at their own pace.

“WonderWorks is all about spreading the wonders of STEAM and learning, so we strive to ensure everyone can experience it! Sensory Days are always a blast,” said Malcolm Hale, guest relations manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge. “We love seeing families and groups take in the exhibits in a unique way.”

With one Sensory Day taking place on a Sunday and the other on a Monday, WonderWorks hopes the different dates will make the experience accessible to as many families and groups as possible. The attraction also works with local special education organizations to help plan group visits and create a smooth experience for everyone.

Make Learning Fun at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge

Sensory Days aren’t the only way families can combine education and entertainment at WonderWorks. With more than 42,000 square feet of “edutainment,” the indoor amusement park for the mind features more than 100 hands-on exhibits covering topics in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM).

Families can explore six Wonder Zones featuring interactive experiences focused on topics such as:

  • Extreme weather
  • Physics
  • Space exploration
  • Light and sound
  • Optical illusions
  • Natural disasters
  • Art and more

For an added challenge, guests can pick up the official WonderWorks Casebook, which encourages visitors to answer questions and complete activities as they explore the attraction. It turns a visit into an interactive scavenger hunt that can help make learning even more engaging.

“The fun never stops at WonderWorks! We’re a year-round attraction with so much to do and learn inside. Families will want to come back again and again!” said Joe Baumgartner, general manager at WonderWorks Pigeon Forge.
