Imagine passing GO and landing on your favorite Smoky Mountain attraction instead of Boardwalk or Park Place. That idea is becoming a reality with a brand-new edition of Monopoly inspired by the Great Smoky Mountains region.
“Monopoly: The Great Smoky Mountains Edition” is officially in the works. The public is being invited to help decide what local businesses, attractions, landmarks, and nonprofits will appear on the board.
Set to debut in spring 2027, this special edition of the classic game will celebrate the places and experiences that make the Smokies feel like home.
Monopoly, Smoky Mountains Style
The team behind Monopoly, Top Trumps USA in partnership with Hasbro, is creating a customized version of the iconic board game. It will be centered around the Great Smoky Mountains region.
Instead of the traditional Monopoly properties, the board will feature beloved local destinations from across the Smokies. Popular attractions like The Island in Pigeon Forge and Anakeesta have already been mentioned as examples of the kinds of locations that could make the cut. However, nothing has been finalized yet.
That means there’s still plenty of room for local favorites, hidden gems, iconic restaurants, family attractions, scenic spots, and longtime businesses to become part of Monopoly history.
Even the game itself will have a Smoky Mountain twist. Players can expect customized Chance and Community Chest cards. They can also expect region-inspired Monopoly money, and details designed to reflect the personality and charm of the Smokies.
According to representatives involved with the project, the goal is to create a version of Monopoly that truly feels authentic to the region.
How You Can Help Choose What’s Included
One of the most exciting parts of the project is that the community gets a voice in shaping the board.
Locals, visitors, and Smoky Mountain fans alike are encouraged to nominate the places they think deserve a spot in the game. Around 40 businesses, landmarks, attractions, and nonprofits are expected to be selected.
Maybe it’s your favorite pancake house, a family tradition like The Old Mill, a scenic overlook in the mountains, or an attraction your family visits every year. Whatever reminds you most of the Smokies could potentially earn a place on the board.
The nomination process is simple, and submissions are open now through June 30, 2026.
What Kinds of Places Could Be Featured?
While the final lineup has not been announced, the game is expected to highlight a wide variety of businesses, attractions, nonprofits, and landmarks throughout the Smoky Mountain region.
Some categories people may want to nominate include:
- Family attractions
- Local restaurants
- Historic landmarks
- Outdoor destinations
- Shops and specialty stores
- Entertainment venues
- Scenic mountain locations
- Nonprofit organizations
Whether you’re a lifelong local or someone who visits the Smokies every year, this is a unique opportunity to help showcase what makes the area special.
When Will the Game Be Released?
The Great Smoky Mountains edition of Monopoly is expected to arrive in spring 2027.
Once released, the game will be available in select local stores, at Barnes & Noble locations, and online through the official Top Trumps website.
For Smoky Mountain fans, it’s a fun way to bring a piece of the region home. You might even see your favorite local spot featured on the board.
