DESCRIPTION:Slow down\, observe the natural world and sharpen your artistic skills during the Ecological Illustration Workshop\, a Branch Out event hosted by Smokies Life. \nHeld along the Fighting Creek Nature Trail in the Sugarlands area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg\, this hands-on workshop invites artists of all skill levels to explore the connections between art and the natural environment. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to practice their observational skills while taking inspiration from the plants\, wildlife and landscapes of the Smokies. The workshop is hosted by Laurie McDowell\, Smokies Life’s 2026 Steve Kemp writer and illustrator in residence. \nWhether you’re an experienced artist or simply interested in trying something new\, this workshop offers a creative way to experience the Smokies and develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world around you. \nEvent Details\nDate: September 19\, 2026\nLocation: Fighting Creek Nature Trail\, Sugarlands area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park\nCost: $45 for current Smokies Life Park Keepers \nMembership in Smokies Life is required to attend Branch Out events. If you are not already a member\, you can join and attend for $85\, which includes a $40 basic Park Keeper membership and the $45 event registration fee. \nParticipation fees help cover the costs of planning and hosting Branch Out programs\, while additional revenue supports projects and services benefiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park. \nAbout Smokies Life\nSmokies Life is a nonprofit partner of Great Smoky Mountains National Park dedicated to supporting the park’s scientific\, historical and interpretive activities.
